The Festival of traditional songs Zamane of the Draa Valley, is part in pursuit of the project initiated by the Zaila association in 2016 and supported by the Embassy from the United States to Morocco (the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation) and will be organized at M’hamid El Ghizlane and his ksours (Ksar Bouno, Ksar M’hamid, Ksar OuladMhia, Ksar Talha and Ksar Oulad Driss).
The objective of this event is to consolidate the achievements of this preservation project
ancestral musical heritage endangered in the south, namely the organization registration and documentation of different traditions (music, songs and dances) and the preservation of this heritage on platforms digital www.draaheritage.org
The Festival aims to ensure the sustainability of the actions started since 2016, on the occasion of holding COP22 in Marrakech, to save the oasis of Mhamid El Ghizlane from the negative impact of Climate Change
The festival is also part of the efforts of Mhamid El Ghizlane’s civil society, to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, in particular:
• SDG 11.4: redouble efforts to protect and preserve cultural heritage and natural world
• SDG6: Guarantee everyone access to water and sanitation and ensure sustainable management of water resources.
• SDG 13: Take urgent action to fight change and its impacts
