Playing For Change Day BRASIL at home, 2nd Episode – 24 hours of music and solidarity.
“Changing the world without leaving home.”
Musicians, producers and volunteers from global movement Playing for Change will be holding the second episode of the online festival PFC DAY AT HOME BRASIL.
Playing for Change is a global movement created by Sound Engineer Mark Johnson in California, in 2002, aimed to inspire and connect the world through music. It has become popular worldwide due to a videoclip where the song “Stand by Me” is performed by musicians from numerous countries, which has over 140 million views.
The movement gave rise to the Playing for Change Foundation, which offers 15 programs in Music Education in 11 African, Asian and American countries – including two programs in Argentina and one in Brazil – benefiting over 2.000 children altogether.
“Playing for Change Day” (PFC DAY) is a cultural, spontaneous and solidary movement that takes place every year on the third Saturday of September, mobilizing volunteer artists who perform at various public spots, like squares, parks, schools, bars and even street corners, in order to promote positive social changes and raise funds to maintain the activities of Playing for Change Foundation and other entities supported by the movement around the globe.
Playing for Change has officially arrived in Brazil in 2014, at the city of Curitiba (Paraná State), with the first and greatest Playing for Change day ever held in the country.
Since 2015, volunteers and fans of the movement have already organized 4 editions in Rio de Janeiro, gathering over 200 artists. The event has also taken place in other Brazilian States, like São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and other cities of Paraná itself.

“Changing the world without leaving home.”
While we wait until September – and due to the social isolation condition we have been living in – PFC DAY BRASIL volunteers have decided to create a special edition, inspired by people who are singing from their balconies in Italy and Brazil, and also by the numerous online festivals, such as “Global Citizen”.

Therefore, we will have 24 hours of music and solidarity on the internet – over a 100 artists from various regions of Brazil and guests from Argentina, South Africa, Portugal and USA, who have already confirmed their participation.
In accordance to the recommendations for social distancing during the Coronavirus pandemic, the artists will perform from home and their shows will be shared on social media through the streaming platforms. The audience will be invited to make donations for the Playing For Change Institute Brasil, through a QR code that appears on the screen.
During the morning of May 31st we will also have a special version of the event dedicated to younger audiences – PFC DAY KIDS and TEENS.
